What exactly does PlanSentry monitor?
A specific public URL that contains a competitor's pricing, plans, packaging, or related commercial information. Each URL is one monitor.
How is this different from a generic website-change monitor?
PlanSentry is intentionally focused on pricing. It filters for plan names, currencies, billing periods, usage limits, seats, credits, and other pricing-related language before comparing snapshots, which reduces unrelated page noise.
How often can pages be checked?
The current app supports hourly, every 6 hours, every 12 hours, daily, and weekly monitoring. Free accounts use daily or weekly checks; Pro unlocks faster schedules.
What happens when a change is detected?
PlanSentry records added and removed pricing-related lines, stores the event in history, and attempts to classify the change. When possible it produces a concise summary such as “$29 → $39.”
Can PlanSentry notify other tools?
Yes. Pro monitors can send a webhook when pricing changes. That can connect to Slack, Discord, Zapier, Make, n8n, or your own HTTPS endpoint.
Does it support email alerts?
Yes. PlanSentry can send immediate, daily, or weekly email alerts, with a configurable minimum severity. Pro monitors can also send webhooks to Slack, Discord, Zapier, Make, n8n, or your own HTTPS endpoint.
Will it work on every pricing page?
No crawler can guarantee every site. PlanSentry starts with a normal HTTP fetch and can fall back to browser rendering for heavily JavaScript-rendered or protected pages. Some sites may still block automated access or change in ways that require adaptation.
Does PlanSentry use AI to invent or guess pricing changes?
No. The core detection is deterministic and based on stored page snapshots. Change summaries are derived from the actual added and removed pricing text; the raw evidence remains visible.
Can I pause a monitor?
Yes. Pausing stops scheduled checks while preserving the monitor's snapshots and change history.
Can I export my data?
Yes. The dashboard can export monitoring and change data as JSON.
How much does PlanSentry cost?
There are two plans: Free at $0 and Pro at $19/month. Pro is also available for $99/year, which works out to $8.25/month effective.
Is billing live?
Yes. Pro subscriptions use Stripe-hosted Checkout. Customers can manage payment methods, invoices, and cancellation through the Stripe customer portal.
Is PlanSentry publicly available?
Yes. Anyone can create an account and start with the Free plan. The monitoring dashboard requires a verified PlanSentry account.
